Why is 316Ti pipe more popular than Carbon Steel? The main reason is corrosion resistance. And Grade 316Ti is more corrosion resistant than Grade 304. The addition of titanium in the 316ti stainless steel pipe alloy improves several properties including its mechanical strength and ability to withstand high temperatures. The precipitates produced on A312 tp316ti welded pipes when titanium replaces carbon are titanium precipitates. Titanium carbides do not promote grain boundary sensitization in any way.
