ASTM B168 / ASME SB 165 Standard:

ASTM B168 is the standard specification established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for nickel-chromium-iron alloys and nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloys in plate, sheet, and strip form. This specification covers the requirements for nickel alloy plates, sheets, and strips used in various industries, including chemical processing, aerospace, marine engineering, and power generation.

AMS 5540 Standard:

AMS5540R: Nickel Alloy, Corrosion- and Heat-Resistant, Sheet, Strip, and Plate 74Ni - 15.5Cr - 8.0Fe Annealed. This specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of sheet, strip, and plate up to 2.000 inches (50.80 mm), inclusive, in nominal thickness.

AMS 5540 is the Aerospace Material Specification (AMS) established by SAE International for Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) in the form of sheet, strip, and plate. This specification is used primarily in the aerospace industry to ensure the quality and performance of Inconel 600 materials used in aircraft and aerospace applications.

The standard ensures that Inconel 600 materials supplied under AMS 5540 conform to the necessary quality and performance standards for use in critical aerospace components, such as gas turbine engine components, exhaust systems, and thrust reversers.
