ASME B16.11 cap is used to seal the end of a pipe, prevent fluid leakage, and protect the internal structure of the pipe. It is commonly found at the ends of piping systems, branch ends, or in temporary sealing scenarios (such as pipe sealing before equipment maintenance). HT PIPE is a well-known stockist and exporter. We not only provide pipes, plate, round bars, but also pipe fittings, flanges, etc. Contact us for more information and prices for free.
Pipe Cap Types
Socket Weld Cap: The connection end uses a socket structure. After the pipe is inserted into the cap's socket, it is welded in place. Suitable for high-pressure piping systems (Class 300 to 2500), offering strong sealing reliability.
Threaded Cap: The connection end is machined with internal threads (default conforming to ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 NPT tapered pipe threads). No welding is required, it connects to the pipe's external threads via the thread. Suitable for medium and low-pressure systems (Class 150 to 1500), offering convenient installation and disassembly.
Material Requirements
Carbon Steel: Such as ASTM A105 (normal temperature conditions), ASTM A350 LF2 (low temperature conditions, minimum applicable temperature -46℃).
Stainless Steel: Such as ASTM A182 F304/F304L, F316/F316L, possessing excellent acid and alkali resistance.
Alloy Steel: Such as ASTM A182 F11, F22, resistant to high temperature and pressure (e.g., F22 applicable temperature up to 593℃).
