ASME B16.11 Dimensions of Weldolet

ASME B16.11 weldolet is a forged branch pipe fitting primarily used to weld branch pipes onto a main pipe that enables fluid diversion or merging within a piping system. HT PIPE is a reputable supplier and exporter. Our inventory includes pipes, plates, bars, alongside high-quality fittings, flanges, and fasteners. Reach out today for competitive pricing and detailed specifications-no obligation, just expert support.

Main Pipe Dimensions

Main Pipe Nominal Diameter (NPS): Ranges from 1/2 inch to 48 inches. This parameter directly determines the basic dimensions of the weldole's fit with the main pipe. Different NPS correspond to different outer diameters and wall thicknesses of the main pipe.

Main Pipe Outer Diameter (OD): A critical dimension for the weldole's fit with the main pipe during welding. It must precisely correspond to the actual outer diameter of the selected main pipe. Its tolerance range is clearly defined in standards to ensure sealing and structural stability after welding.

Branch Pipe Dimensions

Branch Pipe Nominal Diameter (NPS): Determined based on the flow requirements of the piping system. It can be the same as or different from the main pipe's nominal diameter. Common branch pipe NPS ranges from 1/2 inch to 24 inches, and their corresponding outer diameter and wall thickness must also comply with relevant piping standards.

Branch pipe outer diameter (OD): The inner diameter of the branch pipe end of the weldolet must match the outer diameter of the branch pipe to achieve a tight weld. This dimension requires high precision, and deviations must be controlled within the standard's allowable range.

Weldolet body dimensional parameters

Body length: This refers to the axial length of the weldole from the main pipe's contact surface to the branch pipe's weld end. Different nominal diameters and pressure ratings of weldolet have different body lengths. The standard specifies the corresponding values for each specification in tabular form.

Body wall thickness: Determined based on the design pressure and material strength, it must meet the pressure rating requirements to prevent pipe breakage due to insufficient wall thickness during use. The standard specifies the minimum body wall thickness for different pressure ratings (e.g., 1500 lbs, 3000 lbs, 6000 lbs, 9000 lbs).

Weld bevel dimensions: This includes the bevel angle, blunt edge thickness, and root gap. These dimensional parameters directly affect the weld quality. The standard specifies the weld bevel form and dimensional requirements for different weldole specifications.
