ASME B16.11 Half Coupling Dimension

ASME B16.11 Half Coupling is a forged fitting used in piping systems to connect pipes, equipment, and valves. It has only one end with internal threads or a welded end, and the other end is welded to the pipe. It is widely used in high-pressure piping systems such as petroleum, chemical, power, and water treatment. HT PIPE is a ASME B16.11 Half Coupling supplier with 15+ export experience. Precautions for selecting the size of half pipe joints

Matching pipeline specifications: The outer diameter (OD) of the half pipe joint should be consistent with the nominal outer diameter of the connecting pipeline, and the wall thickness should not be less than the wall thickness of the pipeline to avoid insufficient strength.

Adapt to nominal pressure: Select the corresponding Class half pipe joint according to the design pressure of the pipeline system. For example, Class 600 or above specifications should be selected for a 10MPa pressure system.

End matching: The threaded half pipe joint is suitable for low pressure, small diameter (NPS ≤ 2) scenarios, and the welded end is suitable for high pressure, large diameter (NPS ≥ 3/4) scenarios.

material selection

Carbon steel material: With good plasticity, and the tolerance of outer diameter (OD) and main body length (L) during processing can be easily controlled within the standard range. The minimum wall thickness (t) can be executed according to the basic standard value, which is suitable for most medium and low pressure room temperature scenarios.

Stainless steel material: It has a higher hardness than carbon steel, and thread processing is more difficult. Special cutting tools are required to ensure the diameter tolerance of NPT threads (± 0.127mm). The wall thickness at the welding end needs to be increased by 0.2-0.5mm compared to the carbon steel version to avoid excessive wall thickness reduction due to fast heat conduction during welding.

Alloy steel material: High temperature strength, used in high-temperature pipeline systems (such as 400-600 ℃), the main body length (L) needs to consider the thermal expansion coefficient, and a thermal expansion allowance of 0.3-0.8mm needs to be reserved during processing.
