Pressure Rating Requirements

ASME B16.11 Laterals must comply with the pressure rating range specified in the standard. Common pressure ratings include Class 3000, Class 6000, and Class 9000, corresponding to different design pressure and temperature parameters. Class 3000 is suitable for lower pressure applications, while Class 9000 is suitable for high-pressure conditions. The specific selection should be matched to the actual working pressure and temperature of the piping system.

 

Dimensional Tolerance Requirements

The standard specifies strict tolerance requirements for the key dimensions of ASME B16.11 Laterals, including main pipe diameter, branch pipe diameter, socket depth, and thread accuracy. For example, the socket depth tolerance for socket weld connections must be controlled within ±1.5mm.

 

ASME B16.11 Lateral Key Technical Parameters

Diameter Range: Main pipe diameters commonly range from 1/2 inch to 24 inches, and branch pipe diameters commonly range from 1/2 inch to 12 inches, supporting branch connections of different diameters.

 

Connection Method: Available in two types: socket weld (SW) and threaded (NPT). Socket welding is suitable for medium and high-pressure pipelines, while threaded connections are suitable for low-pressure and small piping systems.

 

Temperature Range: Depending on the material, the applicable temperature range is -29℃ to 427℃. Carbon steel materials have an upper temperature limit of 427℃, while stainless steel materials can withstand even lower temperatures.

 

End Face Type: By default, a flat face (FF) is used, but other end face types such as raised face (RF) can be customized for special applications.
