Technical Specifications: ASME B16.5 Class 1500 WN Flanges

ASME B16.5 Class 1500 Weld Neck (WN) flange designed to handle extreme pressures, these flanges feature a long, tapered hub that provides essential reinforcement and helps reduce stress concentration at the base of the flange. HT PIPE supply all different types and scales of flanges. Please feel free to contact us for further product information and pricing.

Key Dimensional Features

Outside Diameter (OD): The total width of the flange.

Thickness: The minimum thickness of the flange "ring" (excluding the raised face).

Hub Diameter at Base: The width of the tapered hub where it meets the flange body.

Length Through Hub (LTH): The total height from the gasket surface to the end of the welding bevel.

Bore (B): This is specified by the purchaser to match the Inside Diameter (ID) of the adjoining pipe.

Material and Facing Options

While ASTM A105 carbon steel is the industry standard for general high-temperature service, ASTM A182 (F304/L, F316/L) is frequently utilized for corrosive environments.

Gasket Face Types

  • Raised Face (RF): The most common for Class 1500, providing extra pressure on the gasket area.
  • Ring Type Joint (RTJ): Often preferred for the most extreme Class 1500 and 2500 applications. RTJ flanges use a metallic ring gasket that fits into a machined groove, creating a superior "metal-to-metal" seal.
