ASME SA234 WPB Carbon steel buttweld fittings are pipe fittings made of carbon steel that connect to pipes via butt welding. Their core functions include changing direction, connecting branch pipes, transitioning pipe diameters, and sealing ends within a piping system. HT PIPE is a carbon steel supplier with 15+ export experience. Contact us for more information and quotes for free!

Carbon steel buttweld fittings Manufacturing Process Classification
Hot-pressed Fittings: Carbon steel billets are heated to a plastic state and then pressed or pushed into the desired shape (e.g., elbows, tees) using molds. Suitable for medium to large pipe fittings above DN50.
Cold-pressed Fittings: Carbon steel billets are formed under pressure at room temperature. Suitable for small diameter pipe fittings below DN50.
Forged Fittings: Carbon steel billets are forged using a forging press.
Key Performance Characteristics
Carbon steel buttweld fittings Mechanical Properties
High tensile and yield strength at room temperature. For example, A105 grade pipe fittings have a tensile strength ≥485MPa at 20℃ and can withstand pressures from PN16 to PN420.
Carbon steel buttweld fittings Corrosion Resistance
Carbon steel itself has poor corrosion resistance and is prone to oxidation corrosion in humid, acidic, and alkaline environments. Anti-corrosion treatments such as painting, galvanizing, and plastic lining are necessary to improve corrosion resistance.
Carbon steel buttweld fittings Weldability
Low-carbon steel (such as 20# and A105) has excellent weldability. Qualified welds can be formed using conventional manual arc welding (SMAW) or tungsten inert gas welding (TIG), without the need for complex preheating or post-weld heat treatment.
Carbon steel buttweld fittings High Temperature Resistance
The long-term operating temperature of ordinary carbon steel pipe fittings (such as 20# and A105) is ≤427℃. Molybdenum-containing low-alloy carbon steel (such as A350 LF6) can withstand temperatures above 450℃.
