ASTM A240 Aisi 310 Stainless Plate Sheet
ASTM A240 1.4841 AISI 310 stainless steel sheet has high chromium and nickel content provide excellent corrosion resistance to various acids, alkalis, and high-temperature gases. Type 310 stainless steel also has good mechanical properties and can withstand high temperatures up to 1150°C. ASTM A240 is a standard specification for chromium and chromium-nickel stainless steel plate, sheet, and strip for pressure vessels and for general applications.

ASTM A240 Grade 310 Ss Plate Material Properties
Alloy 310 (UNS S31000) is an austenitic stainless steel developed for use in high temperature corrosion resistant applications. The alloy uns s31000 resists oxidation up to 2010°F (1150°C) under mildly cyclic conditions, and up to 1400℃ for short periods of time. This makes sus 310 stainless steel plate ideal for use in high-temperature environments, especially in furnace components and heat exchangers.
Because of its high chromium and moderate nickel content, Alloy 310 is resistant to sulfidation and can also be used in moderately carburizing atmospheres.
Common Industrial Applications for Type 310 / 1.4841
Industrial Kilns & Furnaces: Radiant tubes, muffle structures, combustion chambers, burner tips, and annealing covers.
Petrochemical Processing: Heat exchangers, catalytic recovery systems, and tube hangers in steam boilers.
Power Generation: Fluidized bed combustors, coal gasifier components, and internal conveyor structures.
Cryogenic Infrastructure: Its low magnetic permeability and high toughness make it reliable for extreme sub-zero applications down to cryogenic ranges.
Stainless Steel 310 Plate Weldability and Machinability
ASTM A240 1.4841 AISI 310 stainless sheet is also known for its excellent weldability and machinability. It can be easily formed, cut, and welded into a wide range of shapes and sizes. Alloy 310 can be readily welded by most standard processes including TIG, PLASMA, MIG, SMAW, SAW and FCAW.
Fabrication, Welding, and Cold Forming Guidance
Forming & Drawing: Due to its excellent ductility, AISI 310 sheets can be cold-formed using standard stamping and bending equipment. However, because it work-hardens quickly, intermediate annealing may be necessary for deep-drawing procedures.
Welding Compatibility: Readily weldable using TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and stick (SMAW) processes. To maintain maximum corrosion and heat resistance at the joint, use matching chemistry filler metals such as ER310 wire or E310 electrodes. Keep interpass temperatures low to avoid hot cracking.
In conclusion, ASTM A240 UNS S31000 stainless sheet is a high-quality stainless steel sheet that has excellent properties such as high-temperature resistance, anti-corrosion, and good mechanical properties. It is widely used in various industries due to its reliable performance and durability.
