Butt-welded ASTM A243 WPB Concentric Reducer

The butt-welded ASTM A243 WPB concentric reducer's core function is to achieve a concentric connection between pipes of two different diameters, ensuring a smooth transition of fluid in the pipeline system. Its key feature is that the centers of the two end connections are on the same axis, and the overall structure is a symmetrical conical shape.

Butt-welded ASTM A243 WPB concentric reducer's Core material properties

Chemical Composition: Carbon (C) ≤0.3%, Manganese (Mn) 0.29~1.06%, Phosphorus (P) ≤0.05%, Sulfur (S) ≤0.058%, Silicon (Si) ≥0.10%, Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu) content ≤0.40%, Vanadium (V) ≤0.08%, Niobium (Nb) ≤0.02%.

Mechanical Properties: Tensile strength 415~585MPa, Yield strength ≥240MPa, Elongation ≥22%, Brinell hardness ≤197HB.

Applicable Temperature: -29℃~425℃, can operate stably under medium-low to medium-high temperature conditions, suitable for the transportation of various conventional media.

Core Advantages: Excellent welding performance, stable mechanical properties after heat treatment, corrosion resistance and pressure resistance meet the requirements of conventional industrial working conditions, controllable manufacturing costs, and suitable for large-scale industrial  applications.

Structural Design Features

Adopting a concentric structure design, the pipe diameters at both ends transition symmetrically, with the axes completely coinciding. The pipe ends use a standard bevel form, suitable for butt welding connections. It can be directly welded and fixed to steel pipes. After installation, the overall pipeline axis is regular, eliminating the need for additional adjustment of the horizontal or vertical position of the interface.

Core Performance Advantages

Low Fluid Resistance: The symmetrical conical structure ensures smooth fluid flow, preventing turbulence or impact, reducing energy consumption during media transport, and minimizing wear on the inner pipe wall.

Uniform Stress Distribution: The gradual diameter transition avoids localized stress concentration, making it suitable for high-pressure piping systems and providing higher operational stability under pressure fluctuations.

Convenient Installation: The regular appearance and low requirements for symmetry in installation space facilitate subsequent pipeline inspection, maintenance, and expansion.

Reliable Sealing: The butt-welded connection method combined with a standard bevel design provides excellent sealing performance after welding, effectively preventing media leakage.

Core Specifications

Diameter Range: DN15~DN1500 (NPS 1/2~NPS 60), adaptable to diameter transitions from small to large pipes.

Wall Thickness Grade: SCH5~SCH160, allowing selection of appropriate wall thickness based on the pipeline system pressure rating to meet different operating pressure requirements.

Length Parameters: Standard lengths vary for different diameters. For example, DN20×15 (NPS 3/4×1/2) has a length of 38mm, DN50×40 (NPS 2×1.5) has a length of 76mm, and DN100×80 (NPS 4×3) has a length of 102mm. Specific dimensions must comply with ASME B16.9 or GB/T 12459-2017 standards.

Surface Treatment: Commonly uses sandblasting, transparent anti-rust oil, anti-rust black oil, or hot-dip galvanizing. The appropriate treatment method can be selected based on the application environment to enhance corrosion resistance.

Forming Process: Primarily uses diameter reduction pressing, diameter expansion pressing, or a combination of diameter reduction and expansion pressing. Large-diameter products can be formed by rolling and welding sheet metal.
