ASTM A182 F51 Flanges

ASTM A182 F51 (UNS S31803 / S32205):

Duplex Stainless Steel:
Balanced combination of ferritic and austenitic phases.
Chemical Composition:
Chromium (Cr): 21.0–23.0%
Nickel (Ni): 4.5–6.5%
Molybdenum (Mo): 2.5–3.5%
Nitrogen (N): 0.08–0.20%
Applications: Chemical processing, oil and gas, marine engineering.
Note: Can be dual-certified as S32205 but not vice versa.

ASTM A182 F53 (UNS S32750):

Super Duplex Stainless Steel:
Enhanced corrosion resistance. Increased chromium content compared with F51 for improved pitting corrosion resistance. Higher yield strength allows for reducing section size in load-bearing applications.
Chemical Composition:
Chromium (Cr): 24.0–26.0%
Nickel (Ni): 6.0–8.0%
Molybdenum (Mo): 3.0–5.0%
Applications: Suited for aggressive corrosive environments.
Note: Higher yield strength than F51.

ASTM A182 F55 (UNS S32760):
Super Duplex Stainless Steel:
Contains tungsten in addition to chromium and nickel.
Chemical Composition:
Chromium (Cr): 24.0–26.0%
Nickel (Ni): 6.0–8.0%
Molybdenum (Mo): 3.0–4.0%
Applications: Chemical processing, marine engineering.
Note: Known as Zeron 100; high strength and corrosion resistance.

ASTM A182 F60 (UNS S32205):

Duplex Stainless Steel:
Balanced combination of strength and corrosion resistance. Manufacturers optimised the UNS S31803 composition towards the top end of the limits to improve pitting corrosion resistance. This grade, with a tighter specification, is captioned as F60, equating to UNS S32205.
Chemical Composition:
Chromium (Cr): 21.0–23.0%
Nickel (Ni): 4.5–6.5%
Molybdenum (Mo): 2.5–3.5%
Nitrogen (N): 0.14–0.20%
Applications: Chemical, petrochemical, and offshore industries.

ASTM A182 F61 (UNS S32550):

High-Alloy Stainless Steel:
Known as Ferralium 255; the original super duplex stainless steel.
Chemical Composition:
Specific composition with added copper for improved pitting corrosion resistance.
Applications: Wide range of demanding applications.
Note: Offers increased strength and corrosion performance compared to F53 and F55.

When selecting between these grades, considerations should be based on specific application requirements, environmental conditions, and desired material properties. It's advisable to consult with materials engineers or industry experts to ensure the most suitable choice for a particular application. Contact us for free more information and prices!
