The chemical industry is one of the core application areas of 904L, which involves a large amount of strong acid, strong alkali, and high chloride media (such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, chloride solutions), and equipment is exposed to high temperature and high pressure environments for a long time, requiring extremely high corrosion resistance of stainless steel.

 

Sulfuric acid production and storage equipment

Sulfuric acid is a basic chemical raw material, and its corrosiveness varies greatly depending on its concentration and temperature. In dilute sulfuric acid (concentration below 50%, temperature below 80 ℃) environment, ordinary stainless steel is prone to corrosion, while 904L can be used to make sulfuric acid storage tanks, sulfuric acid transportation pipelines, sulfuric acid pump impellers and other equipment due to the effect of copper element.

 

Chlor alkali chemical equipment

During the production process of chlor alkali chemical industry, a large amount of chlorine gas, sodium hydroxide solution (caustic soda), and sodium chloride solution are generated, with high chloride ion concentration, which can easily cause pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. 904L can be used to make ion membrane electrolyzers, caustic soda storage tanks, chlorine gas pipelines, etc. in chlor alkali plants.
