2.4668 Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum high-temperature alloy, which also includes Fe, Nb, Ti, Al, Cb, Ta, etc., to achieve a balance between high-temperature strength, corrosion resistance, and excellent mechanical properties.
1. Nickel (50-55%): High nickel content contributes to the excellent corrosion resistance of this Inconel 718, especially in harsh environments and high temperatures.
2. Chromium (17-21%): Chromium enhances oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength. It also helps the Inconel 2.4668 form a protective oxide layer, which contributes to its corrosion resistance.
3. Iron (17-21%): Iron is the main element affecting the strength, toughness, and other mechanical properties of 2.4668 Inconel 718.
4. Niobium (4.75-5.5%): Niobium, also known as columbium, provides stability and precipitation hardening. It contributes to the high-temperature strength and phase stability of the alloy.
5. Molybdenum (2.8-3.3%): Molybdenum enhances the corrosion resistance of 2.4668 alloys 718 in various environments (including acids and chlorides). It also helps maintain strength at high temperatures.
6. Titanium (0.65-1.15%): Titanium helps 2.4668 Inconel 718 respond to precipitation hardening, thereby enhancing its strength and performance at high temperatures.
7. Aluminum (0.2-0.8%): Aluminum is another element that contributes to precipitation hardening. It combines with titanium to form strengthening precipitates during heat treatment.
8. Columbium + Tantalum (0.7-1.2%): These elements contribute to grain boundary strengthening and phase stability, especially at high temperatures.
