UNS N06002 plate Chemical Composition
This alloy's matrix element (approximately 47%) provides the foundation for its metallurgical stability and carburization resistance. The high nickel content ensures the alloy maintains a face-centered cubic crystal structure even at extreme temperatures, providing an ideal platform for solid-solution strengthening.
Hastelloy X is particularly noteworthy for its stringent control of impurity elements: sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) are limited to below 0.015% and 0.03%, respectively, to prevent hot brittleness and ensure weldability. Carbon (C) is controlled between 0.05% and 0.15%, balancing grain boundary strengthening with the risk of excessive carbide precipitation. This precise compositional control ensures that the material will not degrade due to the precipitation of detrimental phases during long-term high-temperature service.

Alloy x sheet Physical Properties
In terms of basic physical parameters, the alloy has a density of 8.28 g/cm³ (approximately 0.297 lb/in³), which is within the typical density range for nickel-based alloys. Its melting point range is 1260-1355°C (approximately 2300-2470°F), a wide melting point range reflecting the characteristics of a multicomponent alloy system. Notably, Hastelloy X is non-magnetic at room temperature.
alloy n06002 High-Temperature Strength Retention
The core value of Hastelloy X, which truly distinguishes it from ordinary stainless steel and other nickel-based alloys, lies in its exceptional high-temperature strength retention. At temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C), its tensile strength remains at approximately 89 ksi (614 MPa), and even at 1600°F (871°C), it maintains a strength level of 45 ksi (310 MPa).
alloy 2.4665 hot rolled sheet Creep Rupture Resistance
At 1200°F (649°C), it withstands a stress of 48 ksi for 100 hours without rupture. Even at temperatures of 1800°F (982°C), Hastelloy X can withstand a stress of 4 ksi for 100 hours. This property makes it an ideal choice for high-temperature, load-bearing components such as combustion chambers and transition sections.
hastelloy n06002 strip High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance
In cyclic oxidizing environments up to 1200°C, the alloy forms a dense and highly adherent protective film of chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) on its surface.1 This protective film exhibits self-healing properties, rapidly regenerating even if microcracks or spalling occur due to thermal cycling. Long-term exposure tests in dry air at 2000°F (1093°C) show that Hastelloy X exhibits significantly lower weight change and corrosion penetration depth than ordinary stainless steel and most high-temperature alloys.
Common Applications for Alloy X Plates and Sheets
Because of its unique ability to withstand hot, high-velocity gas streams, Hastelloy X plates and sheets are heavily utilized across three primary industries:
Aerospace and Gas Turbine Engines
Combustion Chambers & Liners: Where temperatures routinely spike, requiring excellent thermal fatigue resistance.
Transition Ducts & Afterburner Components: Directing high-velocity exhaust gases safely away from structural frames.
Turbine Flame Holders & Shrouds: Retaining structural dimensions under high thermal loads.
Industrial Furnace Manufacturing
Furnace Retorts, Muffles, and Inner Covers: Isolating heating elements from harsh internal processing atmospheres.
Barrels and Trays: Supporting heavy metal parts through continuous heat-treating cycles.
Grid Supports and Radiant Tubes: Managing heat distribution inside large industrial baking and forging setups.
Petrochemical Processing
Catalyst Support Grids: Withstanding high temperatures and aggressive process chemistry simultaneously.
Pyrolysis Furnace Tubing Supports: Holding critical process tubes inside high-heat cracker units.
