What is the difference between S32550 and S32760?

S32550 super duplex pipe

UNS S32550 VS. UNS S32760

Both UNS S32550 and UNS S32760 are super duplex stainless steel grades. S32550 stainless steel pipe generally has higher yield strength and tensile strength, while S32760 stainless steel pipe generally has better resistance to pitting corrosion.

1. Chemical composition:

S32550 super duplex pipe (also known as 25Cr-6Ni-3Mo-N) contains approximately 24-26% chromium, 4.5-6.5% nickel, 2.9-3.9% molybdenum, and 0.10-0.30% nitrogen.

S32760 super duplex pipe (also known as 25Cr-7Ni-3.5Mo-0.25N) contains approximately 24-26% chromium, 6-8% nickel, 3-4% molybdenum, and 0.20-0.30% nitrogen.

2. Mechanical properties:

S32550 stainless steel pipe generally exhibits higher yield strength and tensile strength compared to S32760.

S32760 stainless steel pipe generally has better resistance to pitting corrosion than S32550, especially in chloride-rich environments.

3. Application:

1.4507 stainless steel is typically used in applications requiring high strength, such as oil and gas industry components, chemical processing equipment, and marine environments.

The S32760 is typically used in highly corrosive environments including offshore oil and gas platforms, desalination plants, and chemical processing facilities.
