UNS S32205 material is a duplex stainless steel, a duplex stainless steel with a ferrite-austenite microstructure. The duplex microstructure provides the high strength of ferrite grades while retaining the corrosion resistance of austenite grades. Also known as Duplex 2205. UNS S32205 stainless steel pipe has excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion compared to 316L stainless steel. Also, it is even resistant to sulfuric acid due to the addition of copper in the composition.

SS 2205 Material Heat Treatment
S32205 material suppliers offer the most suitable heat treatment, which is solution treated (annealing) at temperatures between 1020 - 1100°C, followed by rapid cooling. Quenching is the rapid immersion of the heated UNS S32205 duplex stainless steel pipe in water or oil to cool it rapidly for higher hardness and strength. Grade 2205 can be work-hardened but not heat-hardened.
