ASTM A789 is the specification for general purpose seamless and welded ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubes. It covers duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel grades including UNS S31803 (also known as duplex 2205). UNS S31803 has excellent resistance to various types of corrosion including pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. It is commonly used in marine environments and chemical processing plants, for example.

ASTM A789 UNS S31803 Seamless and Welded Tube:

ASTM A789 specifies seamless and welded tubes. Seamless tubes are produced without any longitudinal or circumferential welds and have a higher pressure bearing capacity. Welded tubes are manufactured by welding the edges of strip or plate to form a continuous tube, including ERW, EFW, SAW, etc.
