UNS N10665 Material Applications:
2.4617 Hastelloy B2 is highly resistant to a variety of acids and reducing agents and is widely used in industries such as chemical processing, petrochemicals, and energy production, including reactors, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
Hastelloy Alloy B 2 Fabrication:
- Nickel alloy B2 can be fabricated using standard welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, and coated electrode methods. Hastelloy B2 UNS N10665 also resists the formation of grain boundary carbide precipitates in the weld heat affected zone without further heat treatment.
- Avoid exposure to temperatures between 1000°F and 1600°F (538°C and 870°C) as secondary phases may reduce the ductility of the alloy.
Heat Treatment of Hastelloy B 2
For optimum corrosion resistance, solution heat treatment at 1950°F (1066°C) followed by rapid quenching is recommended.
Limitations:
While Nickel Alloy B 2 has excellent resistance to reducing acids, it is not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of oxidizing salts such as iron or copper salts.
