The core function of the ASME B16.11 Flush Bushing is to provide a smooth and sealed transition connection between large-sized internally threaded pipe fittings and smaller-sized pipes. This fitting can be installed without welding, facilitating future system modifications and maintenance.
HT PIPE is a well-established stockist and exporter, specializing in international trade for 15+ years. We deliver pipes, plates, bars, and a full line of pipe fittings, flanges, and structural components. Get in touch for free price lists and technical data-we're here to assist.
ASME B16.11 Flush Bushing Installation Key Points
Preparation Before Installation
Clean the threaded surfaces of the pipe fitting and the connecting pipe, removing oil, dust, rust, and other impurities. Check that the threads are intact, without burrs, cracks, or damage. Select appropriate sealing materials (such as PTFE tape or thread sealant) based on the characteristics of the medium.
Installation Process
Align the Flush Bushing with the interface of the large-sized internally threaded pipe fitting and slowly screw it in manually, ensuring that the threads are aligned correctly. For large-sized fittings (NPS ≥ 2"), an appropriately sized wrench can be used to assist in tightening, maintaining the alignment of the pipe fitting's axis during tightening to avoid misalignment. If excessive resistance is encountered during screwing, immediately stop the operation and check for thread interference or foreign object blockage. Do not force the fitting in to avoid damaging the threads.
Post-Installation Inspection
Visual inspection: Confirm that there are no scratches or deformation at the connection point, and that there is no excessive sealant overflow.
Leakage test: Conduct a pressure test according to the type of piping system. A water test can be used for low-pressure systems, while high-pressure systems require pressure testing at the design pressure to ensure no leaks.
ASME B16.11 Flush Bushing Application Scenarios
Chemical industry: Chemical raw material transportation pipelines, reactor supporting piping systems.
Energy industry: Power plant supporting projects, oil and gas extraction and transportation pipelines, fuel and gas engineering.
Water treatment industry: Seawater desalination systems, sewage treatment pipelines.
Pharmaceutical industry: Medical gas transportation pipelines, pharmaceutical process pipelines.
Metallurgy industry: Cooling water pipes for metallurgical equipment, high-temperature steam transportation pipelines.
Construction industry: Hot and cold water supply pipelines for high-rise buildings, fire protection piping systems.
