Structural Features
Sockolets utilize a socket-weld design, allowing the branch pipe to be directly inserted into the socket of the fitting for welding. The welding method is fillet welding, making installation convenient.
Its structure can be divided into two types: equal diameter (branch pipe and main pipe have the same diameter) and reducing diameter (branch pipe diameter is smaller than the main pipe), adapting to different branching needs.
Compared to other branch connections (such as Weldolet), Sockolets are more suitable for small-diameter branch connections and applications with limited space, relying on the sealing integrity of the socket weld to ensure safe fluid transport.
Key Differences from Weldolet
Connection Method: Sockolet uses socket welding, where the branch pipe is inserted into the socket of the fitting for welding. Weldolet uses butt welding, where the fitting is directly butt-welded to the main pipe using a full penetration welding process.
Pressure Suitability: Weldolet is more suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, with a more uniform stress distribution and stronger resistance to failure. Sockolet is primarily suitable for low to medium pressure conditions.
Size Suitability: Weldolet is more suitable for large-diameter main and branch pipe connections. Sockolet is more suitable for small-diameter branch pipes and applications with limited space.
