ASTM A269 UNS S31254, also known as 254SMO, is designed for corrosive environments with high chloride content.
Key Properties of ASTM A269 UNS S31254 Seamless Tubing:
1. Chemical Composition:
Chromium (Cr): 19.5-20.5%
Nickel (Ni): 17.5-18.5%
Molybdenum (Mo): 6.0-6.5%
Copper (Cu): 0.5-1.0%
Nitrogen (N): 0.18-0.22%
Iron (Fe): Balance
Other elements, including manganese, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, and carbon, in trace amounts.
2. 254 SMO Stainless Steel Pipe Corrosion Resistance:
- Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments.
- High resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC).
- Good resistance to general corrosion in various acids and alkalis.
3. UNS S31254 6Mo Mechanical Properties:
- Tensile Strength: Typically exceeds 650 MPa (94,000 psi).
- Yield Strength: Typically exceeds 300 MPa (43,500 psi).
- Elongation: Typically greater than 35%.
4. 254SMO Physical Properties:
- Density: 8.0 g/cm³ (0.289 lb/in³) at room temperature.
- Melting Range: 1320-1390°C (2410-2534°F).
5. UNS S31254 Tubing Heat Treatment:
Generally not heat treated after the final cold-forming process. Used in the solution-annealed condition.
6. 1.4547 Stainless steel Weldability:
Good weldability with various welding methods. Commonly welded using processes such as TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW).
7. Applications:
