ASTM B168 Inconel 601 is a nickel-chromium alloy that is highly resistant to oxidation and has good high-temperature strength. It is often used in applications where high temperatures and corrosive environments are present. The 2.4851 material chemical composition, as specified by ASTM B168, ensures the desired balance of properties, including high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance.

ASTM B168 is the standard specification for nickel-chromium-iron alloys (UNS N06600, N06601, N06603, N06690, N06693, N06025, N06045, and N06696) and nickel-chromium-cobalt-molybdenum alloy (UNS N06617) plate, sheet, and strip.

1. Inconel 601 Sheet Oxidation and High-temperature

One of the key properties of Inconel 601 is its ability to withstand oxidation and high-temperature environments. 2.4851 alloy 601 has a maximum service temperature of 1200°C (2200°F) and can maintain its strength at temperatures of up to 1000°C (1800°F). This makes it a suitable material for use in a wide range of industries, including the chemical, petrochemical, and aerospace industries.

2. ASTM B168 Inconel 601 Strip Excellent Mechanical Properties

In addition to its high-temperature properties, Nickel Inconel 601 also has excellent mechanical properties. Its tensile strength ranges from 550 to 680 MPa and its yield strength ranges from 240 to 310 MPa. ASME SB 168 UNS N06601 also has good resistance to corrosion and is capable of maintaining its mechanical properties in harsh chemical environments.

 

3. Inconel 601 Plate Excellent Formability

Formability: Excellent ductility allows for straightforward cold-forming and bending operations. Due to work-hardening tendencies, high-capacity tooling and continuous lubrication are recommended.

Welding Compatibility: ASTM B168 sheets can be flawlessly joined using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW/TIG), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), or Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). Matching composition filler metals like Inconel Filler Metal 82 or Welding Electrode 182 are recommended.

Thermal Processing: Furnace retorts, trays, fixtures, radiant tubes, and annealing covers.
