Everything You Need To Know About Inconel Sheet

Overview About Inconel Sheet:

Inconel sheets, part of the superalloy family, Inconel alloys are primarily composed of nickel and chromium, are renowned for their exceptional material characteristics, making them suitable for high-performance applications in extreme environments.

Inconel Sheets Grades:

  • Inconel 600 (UNS N06600, 2.4816)
  • Inconel 601 (UNS N06601, 2.4851)
  • Inconel 625 (UNS N06625, 2.4856)
  • Inconel 718 (UNS N07718, 2.4668)
  • Inconel 825 (UNS N08825, 2.4858)

Inconel Alloy Sheets Properties

1. High Temperature Resistance
One of the most notable features of Inconel alloy sheets is their ability to maintain structural integrity at extremely high temperatures. Inconel alloys, such as Inconel 600, 625, and 718, can withstand temperatures up to 1,200°C (2,192°F) and beyond, depending on the specific alloy composition.

2. Corrosion Resistance
Inconel sheet offer superior resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The high nickel and chromium content in these alloys form a protective oxide layer on the surface, which prevents further oxidation.

4. Resistance to Thermal Creep Deformation
Inconel sheets demonstrate significant resistance to thermal creep deformation, which is the tendency of a material to slowly deform under the influence of mechanical stresses, especially at elevated temperatures. This property is crucial for applications such as gas turbine blades, jet engines, and other high-temperature industrial processes.

5. Excellent Weldability
Inconel alloys are known for their good weldability. They can be welded using conventional welding techniques such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and electron beam welding.
