3. Heating:
The cut pieces are heated in a furnace to a temperature between 1149°C and 1260°C (2100°F and 2300°F).
4. Forging
5. Heat Treatment:
Typically, flanges are heated to a temperature of about 1040°C (1900°F) and then rapidly cooled.
6. Machining
7. Inspection and Testing:
Visual inspection, dimensional inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, and dye penetrant testing. Tensile testing and hardness testing.
8. Finishing:
Such as grinding, polishing, and pickling.
