904L stainless steel is a high alloy austenitic steel containing high levels of chromium (19-23%), nickel (23-28%) and molybdenum (4-5%). The addition of copper (1-2%) further improves corrosion resistance, especially to reducing acids such as sulfuric acid. SS 904l pipe is also particularly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
