AMS 5540 is a specification published by SAE International covering the requirements for Inconel 600 sheet. AMS 5540 is a specific aerospace materials specification. Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy known for its excellent resistance to high-temperature corrosion and oxidation, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in extreme environments.

AMS 5540 Inconel 600 sheet properties:
1. Chemical composition: AMS 5540 specifies the chemical composition requirements for the Inconel 600 sheet. Inconel alloy 600 sheet is primarily composed of nickel, chromium and iron, with small amounts of other elements such as copper and manganese added.
2. Mechanical Properties: The tensile strength of Inconel 600 sheet at room temperature (20°C or 68°F) is typically approximately 550 MPa (80 ksi). Yield strength is typically about 240 MPa (35 ksi) at room temperature. Elongation is typically about 30% at room temperature. Nickel alloy 600 has a hardness range between HB 160 and 210.
3. Applicable temperature: Inconel 600 sheet is a high-temperature alloy with excellent high-temperature properties. Typically, its applicable temperature range is between -253°C to 1093°C (-423°F to 2000°F).
4. Heat Treatment: AMS 5540 may specify heat treatment conditions or requirements, such as annealing, to achieve desired material properties.
