Product Introduction

Monel K500 plate is a nickel-copper alloy containing at least 63% nickel, 27% copper and 2.3% aluminum. Compared to 400, MONEL K500 retains the excellent corrosion resistance (sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and seawater) of 400. It is also precipitation hardened with a yield strength of approximately 3 times that of alloy 400 and a tensile strength of approximately 2 times. Monel steel plates are available in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 50 mm and widths up to 1600 mm, and can also be customized to meet specific requirements.

ASME SB 127 UNS N05500 Production Process

  • Welding: Alloy K500 is welded in the annealed state using all conventional methods.

  • Forging: Monel K-500 is forged at 1038 to 1149°C (1900 to 2100°F) and then quenched in water.

  • Hot Working: Din 2.4375 is hot worked at 872 to 1149°C (1600 to 2100°F) and then quenched in water. Should not be cooled below 872°C (1600°F).

  • Cold working: Monel K500 UNS N05500 can be cold worked using standard methods

  • Annealing: K500 is annealed at 1038°C (1900°F) and then quenched in water.

  • Aging: Annealed or lightly cold worked material is age-hardened at 608°C (1125°F) for 16 hours and then cooled in the furnace. The severely cold-worked material is aged at 538° (1000°F) for 6 hours and then cooled in the furnace.
