253MA Pipe (UNS S30815) stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel suitable for a wide range of fabrications at elevated temperatures. It resists oxidation at temperatures up to 1150°C. Nitrogen, carbon and dispersions of rare earth and alkali metal oxides combine to provide creep rupture strength comparable to nickel-based alloys, but at a lower price. 253 MA is commonly used in a variety of components requiring high strength at elevated temperatures (e.g., heat exchangers, kilns, chimney dampers, etc.)

Fabrication and Welding Of Stainless Steel 253MA Pipe

Stainless steel 253 MA can be easily fabricated by standard commercial procedures. Stainless steel is tougher and tends to harden quickly compared to carbon steel.
SS 253MA can be welded using conventional welding processes. Filler metals should be of similar composition to achieve maximum weld integrity and performance.
