316LN SS Plate has higher corrosion resistance and strength due to the presence of molybdenum, chromium and nickel in its chemical composition, as well as the right amount of carbon and nitrogen. The reduced carbon content makes it resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. In addition, the addition of nitrogen enhances the strength of the alloy, and the tensile strength and hardness of UNS S31653 stainless steel are much higher than that of grade 316. The presence of molybdenum also makes alloy 316LN resistant to chloride ions.
