s2205 pipe strength and toughness

High strength: The yield strength (≥450 MPa) and tensile strength (≥620 MPa) are significantly higher than 304L (~170MPa yield) and 316L (~170MPa yield) austenitic stainless steels, and even close to the level of some low-alloy steels. This means that under the same pressure requirements, the pipe wall thickness can be reduced, reducing material costs and installation weight.

uns s32205 corrosion resistance

Pitting and crevice corrosion: High chromium (~22%), molybdenum (~3%), and nitrogen (~0.18%) content gives it an extremely high pitting resistance equivalent value (PREN ≥ 35), which is much better than 316L (PREN ~ 25), and can effectively resist local corrosion in chloride solutions, seawater and other environments.

Stress corrosion cracking: The resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC) far exceeds that of 300 series austenitic stainless steel, making it an ideal choice for handling chlorine-containing media or marine environments.

Uniform corrosion: It performs well in a variety of acids (such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, organic acids), alkalis and salt solutions, especially in acidic oil and gas environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) (pay attention to specific operating conditions).

High strength combined with good corrosion resistance makes it outstanding in the ability to resist wear corrosion and corrosion fatigue in high-speed fluids containing solid particles or pipelines prone to vibration.

stainless steel 2205 weldability

Compared to the first generation of duplex steels (such as S31500), the weldability of S32205 is greatly improved. Good performance welded joints can be obtained by matching welding materials and strictly controlling heat input and interpass temperature. Heat treatment is usually not required after welding (except for specific specifications or severe working conditions).
