Hastelloy B3 Pipe is a nickel-molybdenum alloy that includes alloying elements such as chromium, iron, and tungsten, and is known for its excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures. Hastelloy alloy B3 Tube is particularly suitable for environments exposed to strong acids, especially hydrochloric, sulfuric, and phosphoric acids. B3 Tube can also operate under high temperature conditions, with a maximum temperature range of up to 1,650°F (899°C). Better thermal stability than alloy B-2.

Fabrication with Hastelloy B-3
The lower carbon content Alloy B-3 is used in the as-welded condition due to its improved thermal stability. The alloy can be hot worked as forged, provided it is held at 2250°F long enough for the entire part to reach temperature. All common welding techniques can be used with Alloy B-3, however, oxyacetylene and submerged arc welding processes are not recommended when the fabricated article is to be used in corrosive service.
