Chemical composition of Alloy B3 Plate

The chemical composition of Hastelloy B3 is based on nickel (Ni) (about 65%), molybdenum (Mo) content is about 28.5%, and a small amount of chromium (Cr), iron (Fe) and other elements are added. Its design effectively reduces the tendency of carbide precipitation at grain boundaries by precisely controlling the carbon (C) content and adding stabilizing elements (such as tungsten and cobalt), thereby improving the resistance to intergranular corrosion.

Hastelloy N10675 sheet Corrosion resistance

The corrosion resistance of Hastelloy B3 comes from its strong tolerance to reducing media brought by its high molybdenum content. At boiling temperature, it exhibits excellent uniform corrosion resistance to hydrochloric acid with a concentration of ≤20%, sulfuric acid with a concentration of ≤50%, and phosphoric acid environment.

Alloy N10675 plate cold processing

When cold processing Hastelloy B3 plates, the deformation needs to be controlled. It is recommended to perform annealing after each processing (annealing temperature should be 1065-1120℃) to avoid cracking due to work hardening.

The hot forming temperature should be controlled within the range of 870-1175℃, and rapid cooling should be ensured to maintain the corrosion resistance of the material.

Tungsten inert gas welding (GTAW) is preferred for welding, and ERNiMo-10 or similar matching welding wire is recommended. Oxygen must be strictly isolated during welding, and high-purity argon gas protection must be introduced on the back. Generally, heat treatment is not required after welding, but dye penetrant testing (PT) or radiographic testing (RT) is required to ensure the quality of the weld.
