Alloy B3 UNS N10675 Plate has excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid in all concentrations and temperatures. Hastelloy B3 is also resistant to sulfuric, acetic, formic and phosphoric acids and other non-oxidizing media. Alloy B-3 is far superior to its predecessors (e.g., B-2 alloy) in thermal stability.

Limited testing in boiling 20% hydrochloric acid by ASTM B333 UNS N10675 Plate showed that the uniform corrosion resistance of B-3 alloy was not affected by up to 50% cold shrinkage compared to the alloy in the solution heat treated condition.

Hastelloy B3 2.4600 Plate can be hot worked in a forging manner by holding it at 2250°F (1230°C) to bring the entire part up to temperature.

While B-2 alloy suffers from rapid Ni4Mo formation at around 750°C, B-3 alloy requires several hours (at around 650°C) to induce a deleterious second phase.
