Product Introduction

Incoloy 825 (UNS N08825) is a titanium-stabilized nickel-iron-chromium alloy, strengthened with molybdenum and copper elements, designed to resist strong acid, strong alkali and local corrosion environments. It has become a key material for solving harsh corrosion problems in chemical, marine engineering, and energy equipment, especially suitable for complex working conditions where reducing media such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid coexist with high-temperature oxidizing environments.

Chemical composition of Incoloy 825 Plate

The composition of Incoloy 825 is nickel (38%-46%), chromium (19.5%-23.5%), iron (≥22%), and precisely proportioned molybdenum (2.5%-3.5%), copper (1.5%-3.0%) and titanium (0.6%-1.2%).

alloy 825 composition Mechanical properties

The plate density is about 8.14 g/cm³, and the melting point is between 1370℃ and 1400℃. The thermal expansion coefficient is 14.2 μm/m·℃ (20℃-100℃), and the thermal conductivity is 11.1 W/m·K, which is suitable for heat exchange scenarios. Its room temperature mechanical properties are outstanding: tensile strength ≥586 MPa, yield strength ≥241 MPa, and elongation ≥30%. In terms of high temperature performance, the tensile strength at 540℃ is still above 380 MPa.

Corrosion resistance of UNS N08825 Plate

alloy 825 uns n08825 Reducing medium tolerance

It has excellent corrosion resistance to medium concentration sulfuric acid (≤50%), phosphoric acid and organic acids, and copper elements effectively inhibit uniform corrosion under pickling conditions.

incoloy 825 material Local corrosion resistance

The molybdenum-chromium combination makes the pitting equivalent (PREN) reach 32, and has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride ion environments (such as seawater).

no8825 material High temperature oxidation resistance

Chromium forms a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide film below 900℃, which can withstand erosion by flue gas, molten salt and alkaline melt.

n08825 Stress corrosion cracking protection

High nickel content greatly reduces the risk of stress corrosion cracking in chloride and caustic environments, and is suitable for evaporators and alkali concentration equipment.

Application of Incoloy 825 Sheet

Oil and gas: submarine pipelines, downhole tools for acid gas wells.

Chemical equipment: sulfuric acid reactors, phosphoric acid evaporators, pickling equipment.

Nuclear industry: containers and pipelines for nuclear waste treatment systems.

Marine engineering: seawater desalination devices, heat exchangers.

Environmental protection: key components of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems.

Incoloy 825

Alloy N08825 Plate Hot working

The recommended temperature range is 900℃-1175℃, and rapid cooling (water quenching) is required after hot forming to avoid carbide precipitation.

825 Incoloy Alloy Cold working

It needs to be carried out in steps (single deformation ≤20%), and the intermediate annealing temperature is 980℃-1030℃ to eliminate work hardening.

ASTM B424 UNS N08825 Plate Welding

TIG welding (tungsten inert gas arc welding) is preferred, matched with ERNiCrMo-3 welding wire (such as INCO-WELD 686CPT). Thoroughly remove oil and sulfides before welding, and annealing treatment (925℃-980℃) is recommended after welding to restore corrosion resistance, especially for thick plates or high-constraint structures.
