The chemical composition of N06600 is mainly nickel (≥72%), supplemented by chromium (14-17%) and iron (6-10%) as the main alloying elements. The chromium element gives the material corrosion resistance in an oxidizing environment, while the high nickel content makes it stable in a reducing medium and high temperature environment. Its density is about 8.47 g/cm³, the melting point is between 1370-1425°C, and the thermal expansion coefficient is 14.4 μm/m·°C in the range of 20-1000°C, showing excellent thermal stability.
Mechanical properties of Alloy 600 pipe
At room temperature, the typical tensile strength of N06600 pipe is 550-690 MPa, the yield strength is 240-410 MPa, and the elongation can reach more than 30%. Its mechanical properties can still maintain a high level at high temperatures, for example, the tensile strength is still more than 450 MPa at 540°C.

Corrosion resistance of Inconel N06600 pipe
In terms of corrosion resistance, the alloy has strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC), especially in media containing chloride ions or caustic alkali. At the same time, it can maintain stability in high-temperature hydrogen sulfide, sodium hydroxide solution and molten salt environments, and is suitable for harsh working conditions such as refinery heating pipes and alkali evaporators.
High-temperature oxidation resistance of N06600 alloy welded pipe
When N06600 is continuously exposed to a high temperature environment of 1093°C, a dense Cr₂O₃ oxide layer will form on the surface, effectively blocking oxygen penetration. Experimental data show that after working continuously for 1000 hours at 980°C, the oxidation weight gain is only about 0.5 mg/cm², which makes it the core material of high-temperature furnace tubes and heat treatment equipment.

When cold processing N06600 pipes, attention should be paid to their work hardening tendency. It is recommended to use a multi-pass annealing process (annealing temperature 870-980°C).

The hot forming temperature should be controlled in the range of 870-1230°C, and avoid staying in the range of 649-871°C to prevent the precipitation of brittle phases.

For welding, TIG (tungsten inert gas shielded welding) process is preferred, and ENiCrFe-3 (AWS A5.11 standard) is recommended as the supporting welding material. After welding, 1120°C solid solution treatment is required to eliminate residual stress, and the welding area needs to be strictly isolated from oxygen to avoid intergranular corrosion caused by the precipitation of chromium carbide.
