Acid Corrosion Resistance

Super Duplex S32550 Material generally outperforms Duplex Alloy 2205. With the addition of copper, it performs well in sulfuric, phosphoric and nitric acid, and has excellent resistance to organic acids such as acetic and formic acids. Highly reducing media should be avoided.

 

Pitting Corrosion Resistance:

PREN = %Cr + 3.3(%Mo) + 16(%N)F or S32550, PREN values ​​exceed 40, which is resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion.

 

Chloride Corrosion Resistance

Due to the high chromium and molybdenum content, Super Duplex F61 is more resistant to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking than conventional stainless steels.

 

Ferralium 255 Heat Treatment

  • S32550 Material is heated to around 1100°C and then rapidly cooled for solution treatment or annealing.

 

Welding and Fabrication

  • 1.4507 Stainless Steel can be welded using standard methods such as TIG, MIG and SMAW.
  • Machinability: Due to its high strength, machinability can be improved by using carbide tools and lower cutting speeds.

 

S32550 vs. S32750 and S32760:

  • Copper Content: The high copper content of Super Duplex 32550 enhances its resistance to sulfuric acid, making it ideal for the chemical industry.
  • Nitrogen Content: The higher nitrogen content of S32750 and S32760 provides slightly improved weldability and toughness.
