Alloy 20 steel pipe performs well in a variety of corrosive environments, especially in strong acid media such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and nitric acid. The high nickel content allows it to remain stable in high-temperature and high-concentration acid solutions, while the combination of molybdenum and copper effectively resists the corrosion of chloride ions and sulfides.
Nickel Alloy EN 2.4660 Pipe Fabricate and welding
Alloy 20 steel pipe has good hot processing and cold processing properties. The hot processing temperature is controlled at 1110-1140℃, and the required profiles can be formed by forging or rolling; cold processing requires a lower cutting speed to reduce the impact of the hardened layer. In terms of welding, the alloy supports a variety of processes (such as argon arc welding and resistance welding).
UNS N08020 Pipe Heat treatment
The performance optimization of Alloy 20 steel pipe is highly dependent on the heat treatment process. Standard solution treatment usually takes place at 950-1150℃ for 1-2 hours and then rapidly cooled, which can eliminate processing stress and form a uniform austenite structure to ensure the corrosion resistance and ductility of the material.

ASTM B729 Alloy 20 Pipe Chemical composition
The composition design of Alloy 20 steel pipe is based on nickel, and chromium forms a dense oxide film to resist acidic medium corrosion, while molybdenum and copper further enhance the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The addition of niobium effectively inhibits the precipitation of carbides, prevents intergranular corrosion, and ensures that the material remains stable during welding and long-term use. Its microstructure is mainly austenite, and after solid solution treatment, a uniform structure is formed, which avoids the formation of harmful phases and ensures the reliability of the material.
UNS N08020 Pipe Mechanical properties
Alloy 20 steel pipe maintains high strength and ductility at both room temperature and high temperature. Its tensile strength is ≥550 MPa, yield strength is ≥240 MPa, and elongation is ≥30%, which can withstand mechanical stress under complex working conditions.
