Alloy 904l Tube Resistant to Intergranular Corrosion
The high chromium content in EN 1.4539 stainless steel promotes and maintains a passive film that protects the material in many corrosive environments. 904L is more resistant to the precipitation of ferrite and sigma phases during cooling and welding than other molybdenum-containing stainless steels such as 316L and 317L. Due to the low carbon content there is no risk of intergranular corrosion when cooling or welding, AISI 904l can be used at a maximum temperature of 450°C.

SS 904l tube specified by ASTM B677 has outstanding resistance to hot phosphoric acid. 904l produced to this specification can be produced in either hot-worked or cold-worked conditions. Additionally, we supply SS tubes that have been solution treated, heat treated and then quenched in water or rapidly cooled by other methods.
