Product Introduction

ASTM A312 is the widely accepted standard for stainless steel pipe, ensuring that ASTM A312 316 stainless steel pipe meets the necessary quality and performance standards. Grade 316 is the standard molybdenum grade, second only to 304 in the austenitic stainless steels. Molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistance than 304 grade, especially higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. ASTM A312 TP316 pipe has excellent forming and welding characteristics and is widely used in various industries due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and good mechanical properties.

ASME SA312 TP316 Pipe Characteristics

  1. Corrosion resistance: ASTM A312 316 stainless steel pipe has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in environments containing chloride ions. It has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion and is suitable for marine environments and chemical processing industries.
  2.  High-temperature strength: This grade of stainless steel tubing maintains its strength and mechanical properties at high temperatures, allowing it to withstand high-temperature applications such as heat exchangers and process piping systems.
  3.  Excellent mechanical properties: A312 316 stainless steel pipe has good tensile strength, yield strength, and impact resistance. It has excellent toughness and ductility and is suitable for a variety of manufacturing processes, including welding, forming, and machining.
  4. Versatility: Stainless steel DIN 1.4401 pipe can be used in a wide range of applications including oil and gas exploration, food processing, pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, pulp and paper industry, and many more.

Manufacturing and Heat Treatment
All ASME SA312 UNS S31600 pipes are manufactured and inspected in accordance with ASTM A312 standards. The steel pipe shall be manufactured by the seamless or automatic welding process, including al6xn welding pipe, and SS AL6XN seamless pipe, without adding filler metal during welding. Steel pipes should be free of scale and contaminated iron filings. If steel tubes are bright-fired, pickled, sandblasted, or surface finished, all steel tubes shall be supplied in the heat-treated condition. Except for Class H, S30815, S31272, and S31254, the heat treatment process shall include heating the steel pipe to a minimum temperature of 1900 F (1040 C) and quenching in water or rapid cooling by other means.
