SS 254 SMO Tubing is a high alloy austenitic stainless steel designed for maximum resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Since Alloy 6MO is compatible with common austenitic stainless steels, it is often used as a replacement for critical components in large structures where Type 316L or 317L fail due to pitting, crevice corrosion or chloride stress corrosion cracking.
While Alloy 6MO is much stronger than common austenitic grades of stainless steel tubing, A213 UNS S31254 Seamless Tubing also has impact potential and good ductility at sub-zero and ambient temperatures. Due to its high strength, it can also be designed with thinner walls, which reduces costs. Also considered an economical alternative to high nickel and high titanium alloys, SMO 254 price is lower than nickel alloys.

- Brinous water, seawater, pulp mills, bleach plants and other high chloride process streams
