ASTM304 (EN1.4301) stainless steel is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel. It is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability. Good resistance to atmospheric corrosion in polluted marine environments. ASTM A240 alloy 304 plate has resistant to oxidizing acids like nitric acid. Susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, although less so than some other stainless steels.
