Product Introduction

SS 904L Plate is a super austenitic stainless steel consisting of 25% nickel and 4.5% molybdenum chromium, copper and manganese. Alloy 904L (UNS N08904) was developed to withstand environments containing dilute sulfuric acid and also has good resistance to inorganic acids (such as hot phosphoric acid) organic acids. It outperforms 316L and 317L molybdenum reinforced stainless steels. 904L grade is non-magnetic and has excellent formability, toughness and weldability. 316L Stainless Steel VS 904L

316L stainless steel is far less scratch resistant than 904L stainless steel because its Rockwell hardness is much higher. The main advantage of 904L stainless steel over 316L is its acid resistance, and the addition of copper to 904L greatly increases its resistance to strong reducing acids, especially sulfuric acid.
