Inconel 601 plate Core Advantages

  • The King of High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance (Best Value Among Nickel-Based Alloys): Its oxidation and carburization resistance are highly competitive in the 1000-1200°C range.
  • Excellent High-Temperature Strength Retention: Significantly superior to stainless steel, meeting high-temperature load-bearing requirements.
  • Broad-Spectrum Corrosion Resistance: Resists water, steam, alkalis, oxidizing acids, and various industrial atmospheres.
  • Excellent Machinability and Weldability: Relatively easy to manufacture and apply in engineering applications.
  • High Cost-Effectiveness: Among nickel-based high-temperature alloys, its cost is typically lower than more complex alloys such as 625 and 718, making it a cost-effective choice for many applications.

alloy 601 plate Melting and Casting

Using vacuum induction melting (VIM) or electroslag remelting (ESR) techniques, gas and impurity levels are strictly controlled to ensure high purity. Casting is performed into large ingots.

inco 601 plate Hot Working

The steel ingot is heated to a high temperature (typically above 1100°C) and then undergoes multiple rolling passes on a large rolling mill. Precise control of the start/finish rolling temperatures and the amount of deformation is crucial for achieving uniform, defect-free plate. 601 steel exhibits excellent ductility at high temperatures, but this requires overcoming high deformation resistance.

inconel n06601 plate Solution Heat Treatment

After hot rolling, the plate must undergo solution heat treatment (as described above) to dissolve and separate phases, homogenize the composition, and optimize the grain size for optimal overall properties. This is followed by a rapid water quench.

alloy n06601 Cold Working and Finishing

Some grades may undergo cold rolling to achieve more precise thickness, improved surface finish, and higher strength. Annealing (for stress relief or solution treatment) and surface treatments such as pickling and polishing may follow.

Application of inconel 601 sheet

Oil and gas: submarine pipelines, downhole tools for acid gas wells.

Chemical equipment: sulfuric acid reactors, phosphoric acid evaporators, pickling equipment.

Nuclear industry: containers and pipelines for nuclear waste treatment systems.

Marine engineering: seawater desalination devices, heat exchangers.

Environmental protection: key components of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems.

601 steel plate Cutting and Forming

Cutting: Plasma cutting (underwater plasma is recommended to reduce the heat-affected zone) and water jet cutting are highly effective options. Laser cutting is also feasible, but requires optimized parameters. Conventional mechanical shearing is suitable for thinner plates, but the tendency to harden the edges is a concern.

Forming: Cold forming (bending, stamping) is suitable for most shapes due to its good ductility. However, be mindful of the springback associated with high strength, and mold design must compensate for this. Hot forming (>870°C) significantly reduces deformation resistance and is suitable for complex or severely deformed parts, but requires strict temperature control to prevent oxidation.

nickel alloy 601 sheet Welding

Commonly used methods include TIG/GTAW (argon argon arc welding), MIG/GMAW (gas metal arc welding), and metal stamped arc welding (SMAW).
