The nickel-based C22 delivers uncompromising resistance to boiling acids and wet chlorine – at 3x the cost of duplex alternatives. Meanwhile, S32750's dual-phase microstructure achieves 620MPa yield strength for structural marine applications, yet it also has weakness.

In boiling hydrochloric acid (1%), the corrosion rate of Hastelloy C22 is only 0.02 mm/y, while that of S32750 is as high as 5.41 mm/y in this environment - a difference of 270 times.

Pitting resistance equivalent (PRE): Hastelloy C22's PRE≈46, S32750>40, numerically C22 is superior.
Real seawater performance: Super duplex stainless steel S32750's pitting rate in normal temperature seawater is equivalent to C22, but the cost is only 1/3 of that.
Temperature critical point: When the medium temperature is>60℃ and Cl⁻>50000ppm, S32750 may suffer from crevice corrosion, and C22 performs better.

Stress corrosion cracking (SCC): Hastelloy C22 is almost immune to SCC in high-temperature aqueous solutions containing chloride ions, and S32750 needs to control the use temperature to <80℃.
Post-weld intergranular corrosion: Alloy C22's extremely low carbon (C≤0.015%) design ensures corrosion resistance in the welding area, S32750 needs to strictly control the temperature between welds to <100℃.
