Alloy 400 tubing is considered a very tough material with excellent mechanical properties, in subzero conditions as measured by impact testing. In addition, Alloy 400 performs well in temperatures up to 1000° F. Alloy 400 has a higher corrosion resistance than nickel in reducing conditions and a higher corrosion resistance than copper in oxidizing conditions. It is virtually unaffected by stress corrosion cracking (SCC) caused by chlorides and most freshwater conditions.
