Corrosion resistance to seawater and saltwater: In marine environments, it can withstand long-term immersion and erosion of seawater and saltwater, without obvious pitting or crevice corrosion, and is suitable for seawater transportation and desalination system pipelines in marine engineering. ​

Corrosion resistance to chemical media: It has good resistance to organic acids (such as acetic acid and propionic acid), inorganic acids (such as dilute sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, with a concentration of less than 10%), alkaline solutions (such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide), and neutral salt solutions (such as sodium chloride and ammonium sulfate), and is only prone to corrosion in strong oxidizing media such as concentrated nitric acid and high concentration chloric acid. ​

High temperature corrosion resistance: Under conditions of temperature ≤ 480 ℃, it can maintain stable corrosion resistance and will not cause the oxide layer to peel off or the material to become brittle due to high temperature. It can maintain good toughness in low temperature environments (as low as -196 ℃) without the risk of low-temperature embrittlement. ​

Strength and hardness: At room temperature, Monel 400 pipe has a tensile strength of 485-655MPa, a yield strength of ≥ 240MPa, and a Brinell hardness (HB) of about 110-140, which is higher than that of ordinary 304 stainless steel pipes (tensile strength of about 515MPa, yield strength of about 205MPa). It can withstand higher working pressures (depending on the wall thickness, the design pressure can reach 10-30MPa). ​

Resilience and fatigue performance: elongation rate ≥ 35%, cross-sectional shrinkage rate ≥ 50%, with good impact resistance. Under cyclic loading, the fatigue strength is high and it can be used for long-term use in fluid transport systems with frequent start stop.
