Pure nickel offers near-absolute resistance to high-concentration, high-temperature caustic sodas (such as sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide). It is one of the few materials capable of withstanding corrosion in caustic soda solutions up to 50% at temperatures around 315°C (600°F).
