In high-concentration chloride solutions such as seawater, brine, and bleaching environments, its pitting resistance equivalent (PREN = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N) exceeds 43, significantly exceeding that of 316L (PREN ≈ 26) and 2205 duplex steel (PREN ≈ 35). It exhibits excellent crevice corrosion resistance in seawater cooling systems, even at low flow rates or in backwater areas.

astm s31254 Welding Process

Recommended Welding Materials: Suitable welding materials are ERNiCrMo-3 wire or ENiCrMo-3 electrodes.

Critical Controls: Use low heat input welding and strictly control the interpass temperature to ≤150°C to avoid precipitation at grain boundaries in the heat-affected zone and reduced corrosion resistance. Post-weld heat treatment is generally not required.

Hot Working: Heating should be uniform. The recommended hot working temperature range is 1150-900°C.
