SS 317 Steel Plate Hot Working Process
UNS S31700 material should be heated to 1149-1260°C (2100-2300°F); however, it should not be heated below 927°C (1700°F). To optimize corrosion resistance, post-processing annealing is recommended. The annealing temperature is 1010-1121°C (1850-2050°F) followed by rapid cooling.
SS 1.4449 Hot Rolled Plate Weldability:
ASTM A240 Gr 317 Plate can be welded using common welding techniques such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) or MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding. However, preheating and post-weld heat treatment are required to prevent sensitization and maintain its corrosion resistance.
