317L stainless steel sheet is a low carbon, high alloy austenitic stainless steel. It is an extension of the 316 stainless steel family and is more resistant to sensitization and intergranular corrosion than standard 316 stainless steel. It contains higher levels of chromium, nickel and molybdenum for better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It performs well in applications involving exposure to chemicals such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and chloride environments.
